How to make friends in an instant. He probably has people chasing him to be his friend. I think this is a great idea for people that want more friends.
Of course, if you're an introvert you can just wave and keep on moving.

I saw some people waving at each other in the Sprawlmart parking lot yesterday. They'd both decided to back out of their parking spots at the same time and almost hit.
They seemed a little pissed.

If it were a bottle of beer or some other type of alcohol, people wouldn't just be waving they'd be running after you. Where's the party? :)
