Here's a video that goes into depth. Sort of. But you already know the answer from the chart above.
And if you want to know more...
And a quote from... Put more simply by Neil deGrasse Tyson: "Which came first: the chicken or the egg? The egg—laid by a bird that was not a chicken."
And... What 2 birds made the chicken? Scientists believe the red jungle fowl, Gallus gallus, is the most likely progenitor of the modern chicken, although research suggests that the domestic chicken's yellow skin is a trait inherited from the gray jungle fowl, Gallus sonneratii. So, it's more than likely that today's chicken has multiple ancestors.
May the 5th be with you. Just don't drink it all at once.

It seems only fair that the chicken (like us) has multiple ancestors - some of whom crossed the road before it.
Chickens didn't come from eggplants?
Who cares? I'll eat both.
Okay smarty pants, now why did the chicken cross the road?
Sue - Now you're going to make me go back and find that article that says the whole human race can be traced back to one female. Not that I want to give females any more credit than they already get.
Ol' - Are you throwing me some nightshade? (Eggplant, aubergine or brinjal is a plant species in the nightshade family Solanaceae.)
Bill - But which one first?
Deb - Well, the playground the chicken was at was kind of crowded. There was another playground across the road. The chicken wanted to get to the other slide.
Science
John - I love science.
So essentially Mike this is implying that Amoeba first appeared in the worlds ocean's to ultimately pay tribute to Stanley Kubrick 500 million years later at the premiere of 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968 ! ?, or am i misinterpreting it ?.
LJ - That sounds as good as any other theory.
There was a time, I think ancient Greece, they thought different species could mate and make a combination of both. Like a horse with wings.
Mark - That may happen one of these days.
Now I know SO MUCH more about chickens and eggs.
Well, a creationist would say the chicken was there first in the Garden of Eden.
But I'm a Darwinist, so I'll go with the egg.
Kathy - That's a good thing because there's going to be a test on Monday.
Kirk - Good pick. The egg timeline is a lot longer than the chicken timeline.
