There's more to it than just looking. You have to gather ALL the facts.
This goes along with the half empty or half full glass. You have to ask what was happening before you were asked the question. Was the glass full and someone emptied half of it? Or was the glass empty and someone filled it halfway?

Okay so I'm seeing the Number Sideways Mike... so... (just kidding). Yes, perspective and gathering all the facts plays a role in conclusions you formulate. I think some people are hard wired to view things more in a Positive way and others in a Negative way, so their perspectives about the exact same experiences will vary wildly due to that.
