5987 - Brocken Spectre

Well this could explain a lot of religious experiences.

I found this...

The person who posted this mistakenly called this the Brocken Spectrum. Probably because of the rainbow. But the spectre is the shadow in the middle. Wikipedia article. And there are a boatload of pictures on Google Images

I'd never heard of this before. Imagine some guy 2000 years ago up in the mountains seeing this.

It is cool and might be where the "God in the sky" idea cames from.

I live only about 70 miles from the Harz mountains so have seen this phenomen on many hillwalking trips. Still eerie though.

I can see where people who lived long before scientific explanations would be awed by something like this.

Sue - We're all going to go visit Stu.

River - True.

Peg - I totally agree.

Bill - More than interesting.

Stu - We're all coming to visit you. How many people can you accommodate?!

Kathy - Probably more than awed. More than likely scared the poop out of them.

Two. After mid Oktober. But remember the Oktoberfest is 300 miles south and over by then anyway.

Yep that's god alright.

Stu - Oh well, it was a good idea.

Lady - I'm sure quite a few people have thought so over the millennia.
