It's been a while since I've done a Friday the 13th post. I used to do them every month as a warning to people. Because when Friday the 13th falls on another day of the week, bad things can sneak up on you if you're not prepared. Just like next month when Friday the 13th is on a Monday. You have to be ready!
From Wikipedia...
One source mentioned for the unlucky nature of the number "13" is a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party in Valhalla. The trickster god Loki, who was not invited, arrived as the 13th guest, and arranged for Höðr to shoot Balder with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Dossey: "Balder died, and the whole Earth got dark. The whole Earth mourned. It was a bad, unlucky day." This major event in Norse mythology caused the number 13 to be considered unlucky.
Wait a minute! Mistletoe-tipped arrow?!
From Wikipedia...
There are 1,500 species of mistletoe, varying widely in toxicity to humans; the European mistletoe (Viscum album) is more toxic than the American mistletoe (Phoradendron serotinum), though concerns regarding toxicity are more prevalent in the US. The effects are not usually fatal. In parts of South Asia, they are frequently used as an external medicine. The active substances are Phoratoxin (in Phoradendron) and Tyramine (in Viscum) and their effects include blurred vision, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Less commonly they cause cardiac problems; seizures, hypertension, and even cardiac arrest. Toxins are more concentrated in the leaves and berries of the plant, with teas prepared from the plant being particularly dangerous. While adults may suffer little effect, these are more pronounced in small children and in animals.
What about Friday the 17th?
In Italian popular culture, Friday the 17th (and not the 13th) is considered a bad luck day. The origin of this belief could be traced in the writing of the number 17, in Roman numerals: XVII. By shuffling the digits of the number one can get the Latin vīxī ("I have lived", implying death at present), an omen of bad luck. In fact, in Italy, 13 is generally considered a lucky number, although some people may consider 13 an unlucky number as well due to Americanization.
Lots of exciting charts in this article!
Could he be talking about MAGAts?
And as if you didn't have enough to worry about today...

Friday the 13th is just another day for me.
I am with River. And Friday the 17th the same.
River - But think about all the excitement you'll miss out on worrying about silly shit!
Sue - What about February 30th?
I've missed your Friday the 13th posts, particularly when they fell on other days of the week. The illustrating meme is especially appropriate for this year of dumbassery.
I hadn't realized what the date was until you pointed it out. Thanks.
(Normally on Friday the 13th I'm oblivious.)
Mistletoe was the only substance on earth that could kill the god Baldr. Only Loki knew this.
So...
I should probably stay home today and avoid people, right?
Bill - Dumbassery to the Nth degree.
Kathy - Looks like I'm going to have to remind you every month now.
Deb - Only you (and a few thousand other people) would know that.
John - Absolutely! And stay away from people for a few more weeks just to be safe.
Mistletoe has a side effect of causing all your hair tofall
Out . which is why the victim is Baldr.
I love how you investigate interesting things and share with us all, Mike. Thank you for the timely warning. Aloha!
I was in London today and came back slightly earlier because of the vague threats sigh
Anon - That's going in Saturday Jokes tomorrow.
Cloudia - Be safe. No protests today.
John - Sorry I missed you up there. The blogger spam monster got you... on Friday the 13th.
The Number 13 has never bothered me or been unlucky for me... but I do not like the Number 4. I didn't realize that in Asian Cultures 4 is like 13 is for Western Cultures... I found that interesting, since, I've always had an aversion to it.
Dawn - I think all the single-digit numbers and a lot of the double digits are either good luck or bad luck for somebody. I was going to look that up but didn't get to it.
