6266 - Getting old are we?

I think I've mentioned before that Claudia has Parkinsons. As time goes on, falls become more frequent. And if you fall just right you can get one of these.

Yesterday Claudia had a kyphoplasty to fix hers. The following is from Wikipedia.

"Kyphoplasty is a variation of a vertebroplasty which attempts to restore the height and angle of kyphosis of a fractured vertebra (of certain types), followed by its stabilization using injected bone cement. The procedure typically includes the use of a small balloon that is inflated in the vertebral body to create a void within the cancellous bone prior to cement delivery. Once the void is created, the procedure continues in a similar manner as a vertebroplasty, but the bone cement is typically delivered directly into the newly created void."

If you want to read the whole article... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertebral_augmentation

The article doesn't have a lot of good things to say about the procedure. But with the pain she was in we had to do something. So they turned one of her vertebrae into a hunk of concrete. They had a little material left over so they rolled it into a ball and gave it to us. It was like a small ball of concrete.

Questions? Go ahead, ask away!

People with Parkinsons can often get a job behind a bar; as a cocktail mixer ;-)
jokes aside, all the best for her recovery.

We geezers and geezettes have to stick together. I hope this works out for Claudia. Good luck!

Kathy - I went to the eye doctor today too! They want to do cataract surgery.

Kirk - I think it will. I hope she doesn't fall that way again.

Seems to me a good way to fix a vertebrae and if it helps that's good too. I hope she has fewer falls in the future.

Cataract surgery on one eye or two?

Nobody I know is getting any younger.

Mike,
Cataract surgery is painless and effective. I now have BRIGHT and 2020 vision with these plastic lenses, both set for infinity focus and curing my astigmatism too, go for it.
