I'm sitting here looking at all the dots on my cluster map. Then I happened to remember the QSL cards from shortwave radio and thought, "that's what these dots are like". They're "I made contact with you" dots. So as times change, some things stay the same. They're just called by a different name.

Interesting analogy! I've often wondered who the people are who are represented by those dots...in some cases, I can tell roughly who they are because I have relatively few readers in that particular area (you in St Louis, for instance, or the blobs represented by Amanda in Indonesia and my cousin-in-law in Germany). It would be neat if there were a real QSL card equivalent for bloggers...
