1469 - Saturday

Well I was on MSNBC's site looking at a few things when I ran across something I haven't seen in awhile. The News of the Weird by Chuck Shepard. It used to be a regular feature in the newspaper. Maybe it was one of the papers that went out of business and the remaining paper didn't pick it up.

So I looked at the feature on MSNBC's site and found a link to the official site of New of the Weird. Guess what the link is. http://newsoftheweird.blogspot.com/ That's right, Chuck is a fellow blogger. Weird isn't it? But that's one way to keep your column going. Blogspot!

So take a trip over to to visit a weird site. An official weird site.

1460 - Twitterites

One of these days I'll get on Twitter...... BWAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right. But if you want to just read you don't have to sign up for Twitter. And here's proof. It's a list of the 100 most readable people on Twitter. I didn't create the list. So some of these people are not my fault. Which ever side you're on. I won't keep you anymore. You have a lot of reading to do. And that's just the list.

1383 - Dead Cow

This is an old joke but I haven't heard it in awhile. And some people need to be reminded of things.

********

Dead cow lecture at vet school

First-year students at the Vet School were attending their first anatomy class, with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.

The professor started the class by telling them, "In Veterinary medicine it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor: the first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the animal body".

For an example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the dead cow, withdrew it and stuck his finger in his mouth. "Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students.

The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead cow and sucking on it.

When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and said, "the second most important quality is observation.

I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. Now learn to pay attention.

1301 - Signs signs everywhere there's signs

I was browsing the web and refinding sites I haven't visited recently. Forgetting is great. Everything is new again. Have you been to Morons With Signs recently? The original moron sign holder is at the top of the main page.

I thought I was copying the crazy comments when I copied the pictures. Looks like I'll have to make up my own.

We know it's not spelled that way. And I'm not sure what you're trying to say on top of that.

OHHHHH. One more letter and and she might have had it. As it is I'll be waiting for armaggon just to see what it is.

Sometimes ignorance is printed on a sign.

Aw oh JAY, your neighbors are getting riled up and demanding ..... What the hell is he demanding anyway.

To, too, two? Hey lady, we're already there. We don't have two go.

I'm going to have to check with Captain Picard to see if stealing taxions is a bad thing. Maybe we don't need them anyway.

1284 - Dog Philosophy

Someone sent me a video about dogs. I followed the link back to the site and found the 'Dog Philosophy'. This could apply to humans also. I'm all for number 6.

Dog Philosophy:

1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
2. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
3. When loved ones come home, always run and greet them.
4. When it's in your best interest, always practice obedience.
5. Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
6. Take naps and always stretch before rising.
7. Run, romp and play daily.
8. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
9. Be loyal.
10. Never pretend to be something you're not.
11. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
12. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
13. Delight in the simple joys of a long walk.
14. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
15. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
16. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
17. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
18. No matter how often you are criticized, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends.

And now you can go to the site and see some fun videos. The first 'snow dog' one is my favorite. Then the second snow dog. Then if you like little kids and dogs watch Important Doggy Message.

1102 - TShirts

Bandit sent me a redneck bumper sticker email with fuzzy pictures. That got me looking for better pictures. I found one (it's last). But that got me these tshirt sayings...

The TSHIRT SITE has lots more not so nice shirts. LOTS of them. Proceed with no children (or supervisors) around monitor.

I'm adding this site as a goto for blog material site.

980 - demote

I found another demotivational poster site. It's different than the other one that I posted about before. (much before) (so much before I can't find it from before)
(click to big 'em)

I've seen a variation of this poster but I like this one better. It has an extra instruction.

This one is a subtle one. Poor Jeffery.

Lots more on the site.

959 - What to do today?

This will keep you busy for awhile. What easier way to get a long post than copy a Consumer Reports email update with links to everywhere. Especially with some juicy topics.

***************************

Think Soylent Green was gross? Here’s something scarier. Feeding cattle chicken coop waste. That means your beef may have been fed chicken feces, feathers, dirt and spilled feed made from cattle remains. Sign our petition to stop this now – we’re delivering it this week to the FDA!

It’s not a horror film But it will scare you. “Money-Driven Medicine” examines the medical industrial complex, and what’s wrong with our healthcare system. Watch the movie for free here and sign our petition for reform.

Here's a video from a link to a link to a .......

And here's a link to more healthcare nightmares.

We are now controlling your Internet… Giant telecom companies want to make you pay more for watching a movie online or downloading your favorite songs. Keeping the Internet free is going to be a huge fight. What net neutrality means to you.

Flesh-eating bacteria Is one of many horrible bugs you can get in an American hospital. We want to end these hospital infections through sensible measures in health reform bills. If you've experienced a hospital infection, tell us your story so we can push for the strongest laws possible.

911 - The system or the date?

9-1-1 will always be the system to me. I spent to many days and nights helping set up the first 911 system in St. Louis years ago when I worked for the real phone company.

That said, Bandit keeps trying to trick me. He sent me this email -

*****************
Turn your sound on for this. Read this first, then watch.

This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones..

This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa . Amazingly, 97% of the machine's components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft , Iowa ....Yes, farm equipment!

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort.

It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.

*********************

There is a video attached to the email. You can see the video at http://www.animusic.com/popups/clip-pipe-wm.html . The main site has a lot of other video clips too. I think this is viral marketing by Animusic.

Or you can go to the main page and look up some other goofy saying.

PHRASE FINDER main page.

I'm going to add this to my 'other links' so you don't have to remember it. I know I won't.

841 - Take it off

Warning - time sink ahead.

Here's a short (12 min) video on obesity from NOVA science now. Plus there are two Q&A articles along side the video access. The first article has a shorter video inside it. Altogether you could spend (let's see, it's Sunday, right?) quite awhile reading and watching ...... just kidding! Would I do that to you?!

VIDEO

-From one of the articles.-
"Put simply, our ancestors had to work very hard to obtain enough food to eat. Now we have to work very hard to earn enough money to join a gym and get rid of the food we have already eaten."
