Not just any MRI. A possible exploding MRI machine.
I missed "I'm with stupid" last week because after our tornado we had another emergency and I was watching the news. It seems that MRI machines can explode.
The MRI machines are cooled with liquid helium. The helium gases are vented after they cool the machine. If the vent gets plugged up (like after a tornado) pressure can build up and the machine can explode. One of our local news stations found video of an exploding MRI just to prove it.
JUST SHUT THE GAS OFF!! you say. TURN THE MACHINE OFF!! you also say. Too late. The best they could do is evacuate the area (100 meters around the machine) and send in the troops to fix the vent. This closed down the street again (major street). That took about 24 hours. Once they got the vent fixed they bled off the helium in about 15 minutes. Emergency over.
Try not to think about this the next time you're getting an MRI. If you can't visualize this I found a video.

Makes you wonder whar would happen if you eat beans before getting an MRI?
I'm not even gonna watch b/c I'm gonna have one soon.
B - Bean gas + helium would make you tell dirty jokes in a mickey mouse voice.
RW - You may not have watched but now you know they can explode. My job is done.
Here's another thing I just thought about. If they run out of helium, will you start cooking inside the MRI machine? Just a thought.
