1443 - Medical experiments

I just read another story about how being in a hospital is more dangerous than driving a car. Then Bandit sent me a story about our medical research system of old. How old? 40 to 80 years ago. Not that old really. But they were doing some stuff right out of the middle ages. Here's a snippet from the article.

Many prominent researchers felt it was legitimate to experiment on people who did not have full rights in society — people like prisoners, mental patients, poor blacks. It was an attitude in some ways similar to that of Nazi doctors experimenting on Jews.

So maybe the Nazi's got the idea to experiment on people from us? Perish the thought. If you want to read the WHOLE ARTICLE, click the link.

And here's something that's not in the article. Seems that St. Louis was part of a biological test in the 1950's. The tests were in an area where I lived. Here's a snippet from a declassified document (page 20).

Explosive munition tests with pathogens were begun in 1949. In 1950, the
first open air tests with biological simulants were conducted in various
locales, such as off the coast of Norfolk, Virginia. This would be
followed by limited zinc cadmium sulfide dispersal tests in
Minneapolis, Minnesota and St. Louis, Missouri, in 1953 and Bacilllus
subtilli (variant njgr) in the New York City Subway system in 1966.

Here's the LINK to that document.

I forgot to go to the source. Wikipedia. The knower of everything. Here's a link to the article about Human medical experiments in the United States.

Judging by you, the experiment in St. Louis, the experiment went horribly wrong. Cheers Mike!!

Woah, this is scary stuff. Good things we are OL friends opposed to RL friends or I could catch whatever experimental crap you got.
Uh? Good luck with that?

This is just what they let us know about.

There are a lot of people who still advocate doing medical experiments on prisoners and shit.

Makes you wonder what other tests and experiments (and where) have been carried out.

MM - You think there's any government money in it for me?

RW - I think the winds were blowing to the east that day.

B - Exactly.

J - Yes there are still those type of people around.

A - Yes indeed.

I found this on wikipedia.

Zinc cadmium sulfide is a mixture of zinc sulfide (ZnS) and cadmium sulfide (CdS). It is used for its fluorescent properties.

Use - Operation LAC (Large Area Coverage), was a Chemical Corps operation in 1957 and 1958 which dispersed microscopic zinc cadmium sulfide (ZnCdS) particles over much of the United States. The purpose was to determine the dispersion and geographic range of biological or chemical agents.

I am beginning to think the entire state of NJ is an experiment gone terribly wrong

D - That could explain a lot.
