I'm in that picture of the crowd of the damned, but I'm hard to see. And I hope none of the Islamic crazies see the picture of Mohammed and his best friend.
I just read something funny on the NPR website that the medieval diet was largely comprised of vegetables and grains not meat. This led to a lot of flatulence. Much of the humor at the time revolved around flatulence so the poop and fart pictures might have been humor.
The first photo proves that people back then were WAY more badass than we are today.
That weird second image looks like some kind of alchemy illustration to me.
