I theorize that the one kitten was the runt of the litter, rejected by its mother, and found solace in a dead leaf.
Kirk - I looked at that and wondered how big the leaf is.

My partner's sister sent me the fifth one. Many of our ornaments (Christmas and otherwise) have met similar deaths.
