At least that's what my Mother in Law calls it. Memorial Day for all the up-to-date people.
When my son was in scouts we put the flags out at Jefferson Barracks Nation Cemetary. It didn't take too long as there was a mob of people there.
My parents and a few freinds are buried at Jeff Barracks.

Happy Memorial Day.
Lest We Forget.
Sue - Thanks
Deb - Or learn a little at least.
Wishing you the best, Mike. Thanks for sharing this background story
The photos of the graves and flags is always a good reminder of what the day is about.
Cloudia - Thanks
Kathy - So true.
We're not big on flags and decorations downunder, we're more a remember them then light up the barbie and open the beers type of people.
River - This is a BBQ and beer day for us also.
It's sad to say, but I no longer fly a full-sized flag on Memorial Day and other holidays - just a small one designed to be waved by hand at parades. Nowadays, flying giant flags is a sign of ostentatious, but empty patriotism, and that's sad.
Bill - I'm right there with you. I had a small flag out on a little hill in the front yard. My own Iwo Jima.
